Dr. Julian Vella graduated Doctor of Laws in 2017 and was admitted to the Maltese Bar in March 2018. His LL.D. thesis, entitled ‘Disgorgement of Profits: A Potential Remedy for Tort Victims under Maltese Law on Damages?’ was awarded the Professor David J. Attard Best Doctor of Laws Thesis award. He is now reading for a Master of Laws with the University of London.

Having joined the Office of the State Advocate (previously the Civil Section of the Office of the Attorney General) in January 2019, Julian specialises in fundamental human rights law and litigates cases before the courts of Malta and the European Court of Human Rights, where he acts as Agent for Malta. He also serves on various committees, including as member for Malta on the Steering Committee for Human Rights (CDDH) of the Council of Europe and as contact point for Malta on the European Judicial Network in civil and commercial matters.
