Dr Roma D'Alessandro

Dr. Roma D’Alessandro joined the Office of the Attorney General in December 1996, after reading for a B.A. in Legal and Humanistic Studies and graduating as a legal procurator from the University of Malta. In 1997 she obtained a Diploma in Canonical Marriage Cases, Jurisprudence and Procedure from the Maltese Ecclesiastical Tribunal (Dip.Trib.Eccl.Melit.)

Roma graduated Doctor of Laws in November 2002 and obtained her warrant in March 2003. In December 2008 she obtained a Masters degree in Private International Law from the University of Malta. Roma was appointed senior lawyer at the Office of the Attorney General in October 2012. Throughout her career at the Office she tackled diverse administrative, civil and constitutional cases in both criminal and civil law fields. Key ministries under her remit included the Justice, Finance, Home Affairs, Family and Social Policy Ministries, whilst key departments included the Social Security, Customs and Police departments.

Roma was appointed Head of the Legislation Unit within the Office of the State Advocate on 1st June 2021, where she coordinates the work of the Office in conducting reviews of primary and secondary legislation, whilst striving to motivate colleagues to work as a team and persevere in their challenges.
